I'm Cool Again with Adbusters.Okay, so I love the idea of Adbusters. (www.adbusters.org) As soon as i started living without a tv, i got the point, quite clearly. But I've been having a problem with the fact that they have these Blackspot sneakers for sale, and they're supposed to represent something (I'm not sure what) but they ADvertise them on their site and in their magazine, and, obviously, it's a bit of a mixed message. (to be polite) So I wrote the editor. I got a response within 8 hours. And her email didn't completely explain it to me, and I still don't like that they sell the sneakers, but i thought, how freakin cool? I thought it very respectful that I was acknowledged. I don't get that feeling from any mainstream media outlet for sure. (in fact, i i live on a different planet from mainstream media but that's for another time.) Check out their webpage if you've never heard.

so, yeah, not an answer at all, but freak, i feel that what they are doing is more important than the shoes. i don't like the shoes idea still, and i would have no way of defending it, but i already do so much black/white thinking that i like that i'm seeing grey on this one. well, maybe i'm not really seeing grey, i just really want to support something, even if it's imperfect, that's loudmouth about the destructive media. and another thing-- maybe the controversy is a good thing, because people who haven't heard of adbusters can look them up, and at least be exposed to their message, whether or not they take it away or not. whaddya think?
